Young Poets Competition

We are pleased to announce the launch of the 2011 “EDP/Bayer CropScience Young Poets of the Year” competition.

The Competition is split into two age groups, 8-9 and 10-11 year olds, with exciting prizes on offer for both winning pupils and their schools. All finalists’ poems will be published in a special EDP supplement in the Autumn.

The theme for the 2011 competition is ‘Wildlife’ and this should offer plenty of inspiration, from plants and animals found in our own gardens to species from other parts of the world. We’ll leave it up to the children’s creativity!

We are delighted that the internationally renowned writer Louis de Bernières has agreed to be the final round judge for the 2011 competition. Louis lives in Norfolk and has worked as both a landscape gardener and school teacher in the past, which gives him an ideal background to judge the competition!

The entry form, including rules and guidelines can be downloaded here and we hope that this competition can play a constructive part in pupils’ learning activities. The deadline for entries is 8 July 2011.
