Five farms have been recognised for the role they play in educating young people at the Bayer/FACE Awards 2011.

The winners beat off fierce competition from farms across the UK to scoop the prestigious awards held at the Clothworkers’ Hall in London on Tuesday, 20th September 2011.
Biodiversity Award- Butterfly Lodge farm
Farm to the Classroom Award - Warriner School farm
Careers on the Farm Award - Rylands farm
Innovative learning Award - Glendale Agricultural Society
Rylands Farm in Sherborne, Dorset clinched the overall competition and received the title of The Very Best in Farming Education. The farm also won the Countryside Careers Award for activity including offering work experience, supporting vocational qualifications and promoting the many and varied jobs in the countryside.

Treflach Farm in Oswestry, Shropshire won the Access category for its efforts encouraging pupils with special needs, disaffected students and disadvantaged students to visit the farm.

Warriner School Farm in Banbury, Oxfordshire scooped the Farm to Classroom for its outstanding contribution to school life away from the farm.

Butterfly Lodge Farm in Colchester, Essex won the Biodiversity category helping pupils recognise and understand the importance of biodiversity and its vitality to a region’s wildlife survival.

The Innovative Learning category was awarded to Glendale Agricultural Society in Wooler, Northumberland for the development and implementation of new learning experiences that have inspired and encouraged young people.
