Proline

Proline

From stem base to leaf tip, Proline gives impressive control of all the major T1 diseases (GS31-32). With 6 years proven field performance, it consistently outyields epoxiconazole and epoxiconazole+boscalid formulations in independent and Bayer CropScience trials on Septoria and stem base diseases, independent of variety, soil type, and region.

  • 2005 (27 trials) - 0.2t/ha more from 0.6L/ha Proline vs 0.75L/ha epoxiconazole
  • 2006 (23 trials) - 0.2t/ha more from 0.6L/ha Proline vs 0.75L/ha epoxiconazole
  • 2007 (15 trials) - 0.2t/ha more from 0.6L/ha Proline vs 0.75L/ha epoxiconazole

In 2008, the average yield benefit  rose to 0.3t/ha (27 trials).  Even at £110/tonne for wheat, this is worth an extra £3300/100Ha.

Proline 0.6 L/ha vs Epoxiconazole 0.75 L/ha
Difficult Septoria season.
Source: 27 BCS, independent and distributor trials 2008.  Wheat price £110/t.

The same 0.3t/ha yield and margin benefits were seen when 0.6L/ha Proline was compared to 1.125L/ha epoxicoanzole+boscalid in 2008.

Why is Proline so consistent?

  • EC formulation with built-in adjuvants ensures high crop coverage, rapid uptake for curative activity & and long-lasting activity for security with spray timing delays
  • Best all-round broad spectrum activity covers all key risks :
    • Best all-round Septoria azole (HGCA AFD 2008)
    • Outyields epoxiconazole+boscalid on eyespot (SAC, 2008)
    • Excellent  T1 Fusarium foot rot activity, helping to reduce mycotoxin risk on the ear (HAUC 2006-2008)
    • As good as epoxiconazole on T1 yellow rust (HGCA AFD 2008)
    • Best mildew azole (SAC 2004)
    • Excellent brown rust protection as part of a program (Velcourt 2007)
  • Greening effects from a new azole class (triazolinthione) helps secure yield

Note: The best all-round activity is delivered by the 0.6L/ha rate.  If you are being recommended 0.4L/ha in mixtures with chlorothalonil and/or weaker azoles,  be aware that the robustness of performance may be reduced, should disease risk develop after spraying, or catchy weather delay the T2 timing. Do not expect robust eyespot or Fusarium foot rot activity from 0.4L/ha Proline. Calculate the cost of 0.2L/ha of Proline vs your recommended tank mix partner and ask to see at least 5 years datasets with multiple trials comparisons before choosing this approach.
