  • Bayer CropScience will be hosting one of the first major events to kick off the Year of Food & Farming, with the Bayer CropScience Farming and Countryside Education Awards at the Kensington Roof Gardens, London on Friday, 7th September 2007 to celebrate the very best in farming education.
  • Bayer CropScience and Farmers Weekly have set up a special Kids Connect Campaign, in association with The Co-op, to promote the Year of Food and Farming. The Campaign hopes to help teachers make contact with farms that are interested in school visits. A website also provides advice for farmers, fun information about farming and links to a special panel where they answer questions about farming.
  • Bayer CropScience has been working alongside FACE on a number of different projects. In particular, the development of a distance learning version of CEVAS (Countryside Educational Visits Accreditation Scheme). This is a comprehensive course that allows farmers to acheive an official qualification in hosting educational visits on their farms and was originally only available as a 3-day course. This e-learning tool will play a big part in the activities during the year.
  • Bayer CropScience have also launched our own Biodiversity Centres at Chishill and Shelford which are a practical demonstration of our commitment to Sustainable Development. These centres will also host educational visits.
