Cereal Fungicides

Formulation Technology

Formulation Technology

Firefly is an advanced emulsifiable concentrate formulation, utilising patented technology. This means it disperses readily in the spray tank to form a very stable, fine emulsion. Even at 100 L/ha water volume it secures superior crop coverage for enhanced activity.

Unlike other EC's, Firefly uses water soluble carriers which help improve biological activity of the active ingredients. The performance of fluoxastrobin and prothioconazole is also enhanced by the inclusion of tailored 'in can' adjuvant systems.

  • Each active ingredient becomes rainfast within minutes, which can be visually assessed by bioassay.
  • Plants are sprayed and then subject to a heavy simulated rainfall (20 mm) after the designated time periods.
  • Rainfastness of the active ingredients is indirectly assessed by inoculating plants with a range of cereal pathogens. Bearing in mind that movement within the plant after spraying also contributes to increased % disease control.

Fig. 1 shows the exceptional rainfastness of the Firefly formulation - with about 80% of 'no rain scenario' activity even after 15 minutes. This is an excellent attribute for the catchy weather often prevalent at the T2 spray timing.
