(Active substances: clothianidin)

Poncho is our insecticide seed treatment for maize. We recommend Poncho because it improves early establishment, encourages healthy and vigourous crop growth and, therefore, increases yields. Poncho controls major seedling pests including wireworm.

Why Poncho?

Maximising early sunlight capture is the key to high yields. By helping this process, Poncho delivers yield increases of up to 12 per cent. It also reduces root damage by pests that feed underground.

Main advantages

  • Safe for use on all types of maize including crops grown under plastic
  • Controls the key seedling pests including wireworm, leatherjackets and frit fly
  • Maximises sunlight capture
  • Encourages healthy growth and increases yields

Getting the best from Poncho

Quality of application is crucial to making sure that you get the best out of Poncho. Using a Bayer CropScience approved treater will ensure that you receive the maximum benefit from your investment in the product.

Poncho can be co-applied with a suitable fungicide treatment and a treatment to limit bird feeding.

Important things to remember

  • It is critical that seed is not left on the surface
  • Seed should be covered with soil at a uniform depth of approximately 5 to 6cm
  • Poncho-treated seed should be stored safely

Poncho as part of a programme

Poncho provides early crop establishment, but to ensure vigourous growth use in a programme of high quality weed control with a herbicide such as Cadou Star (flufenacet and isoxaflutole).
