Control Light leaf spot in your OSR with Proline 275

Trust Proline275 to deliver extra profit - even when disease pressure is low

Light leaf spot is the major oilseed rape disease in Scotland and northern Britain, often seriously reducing rape yields in susceptible crops. Yield losses can reach 40% in the worst cases. Average yield losses range between 0.5 and 1.2 t/ha, depending on disease severity. But even when the disease risk is low, Proline275 has been proven to return extra profit when compared to cheaper alternatives.

What to look for

Disease symptoms appear from late autumn, as pale green or bleached leaf blotches surrounded by a halo of white/pink spore masses.

Early identification and treatment are important for effective control, if unsure whether plants are infected place leaves in polythene bags at 10-15°C for three days.

•     If disease develops on these leaves then treat crops immediately.

How to reduce light leaf spot risks

•    Where possible plough in stubble from oilseed rape crops to reduce inoculum levels.

•    Select varieties with higher resistance ratings.

•    Check www.CropMonitor.co.uk for latest disease risk forecasts in your area.
