Trust Proline275 to deliver extra profit - even when disease pressure is lo
w
Phoma is currently the most important autumn disease threat to oilseed crops in southern Britain. The major economic losses caused by Phoma are from the stem canker disease phase. It is these cankers that can give yield loss of up to 50% in extreme cases, and frequently 0.5 to 1 t/ha. This is largely as a result of limiting seed fill due to restricted water movement from the roots and weakening of the stem. This causes premature ripening and also lodging. Even when disease pressure is low, Proline275 has been proven to return extra profit when compared to cheaper alternatives.

Proline275 still delivers profit even in low disease pressure situations**

What to look for
• Disease symptoms appear from late September onwards consisting of circular white/fawn leaf blotches containing small black dots or fruiting bodies

• Early treatment is important as small plants offer a quick route for the fungus through the leaves to the stem where cankers are formed.
How to reduce Phoma risks
• Where possible plough in stubble from oilseed rape crops to reduce inoculum levels
• Don’t grow brassicas in more than a 1 in 4 year rotation
• Select varieties with higher resistance ratings
• Check www.CropMonitor.co.uk for disease risk forecasts in your area.
How to control Phoma
• Apply Proline275 as soon as the 10% plants infected threshold has been reached
• Repeat application 4-6 weeks later if disease pressure continues
• Consider treatment in even low disease pressure situation if plants are small.
