Rye-grasses can be problem weeds but are rarely found in field situations without black-grass or other damaging grass-weeds also present. In these mixed population weed scenarios it pays to choose a product with the best possible grass-weed spectrum, as even low populations of black-grass can rapidly multiply if not controlled properly and become as big a problem as other grass-weeds.

The last few years have seen several new products able to control rye-grass enter the market, but they tend to be rye-grass specific or have a narrow grass-weed spectrum. Atlantis WG has a proven track record in broad ranging grass-weed control over a number of years; and Pacifica has become established in areas where brome is a problem in addition to other grass-weeds.
